CareerBuilder + Monster has 1 publicly reported layoff round on record (most recent October 10, 2024). A total of about 200 employees were affected across these rounds.
Layoff history
Just days after CareerBuilder and Monster officially merged on October 1, 2024, the newly combined company cut 200 employees, about 15% of its total workforce, in a restructuring that touched every department and location. Before the merger, Monster had roughly 900 employees across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and India, while CareerBuilder counted about 395 staff, mostly in the U.S. The joint venture was formed by Apollo Global Management, which held a controlling interest, and Randstad NV, which retained a minority stake. Management said the cuts reflected redundancies created by combining two overlapping job-board businesses. Sales, marketing, IT, and operations were all affected. No severance details or executive quotes were disclosed publicly.
Reason: post-merger redundancies, restructuring
