CFO Sarah Glickman had warned during the company's earnings call that the cookie deprecation could cost Criteo as much as $40 million. The Paris-based company built its core retargeting business on third-party cookies, and Google's shift to its Privacy Sandbox system threatened to strip out much of the targeting capability advertisers relied on. Criteo had also been attempting a pivot toward retail media with mixed results.
