Layoff history
Digital River, a Minnetonka, Minnesota-based e-commerce payments company, announced the shutdown of its headquarters and the layoff of 122 employees in late January 2025, effectively winding down after more than 30 years in business. CEO Barry Kasoff cited the loss of access to the company's revolving credit facility in early January, combined with the rapid departure of key customers, rising operational costs, and pressure from shifting U.S. trade policies. The company had already suspended services to most global customers by the time it filed a WARN notice with Minnesota regulators. Its German subsidiaries filed for insolvency at the Cologne Insolvency Court on January 28. At its peak, Digital River processed more than $30 billion in annual online transactions for clients including Adobe, Lenovo, and VMware. No severance details were made public.
