Layoff history
Envato, the Melbourne-based digital creative marketplace owned by Shutterstock, cut up to 200 jobs in March 2026, roughly a third of its workforce of about 600. In an email to staff, CEO Hichame Assi said the move followed "a strategic review of our team structure and operations" meant to help the company "execute our strategy and respond to rapidly changing customer expectations." The restructuring sought to reduce organizational layers and elevate individual contributor roles. The company said it would "reduce operational costs to ensure we can invest further in product, marketing and AI." The changes spanned teams in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and the US, and involved redundancies, redeployments and role changes. Shutterstock had bought Envato for US$245 million in 2024. No severance details were disclosed.
