Layoff history
Quebec City-based autonomous vehicle software company LeddarTech cut 138 employees in May 2025, roughly 95% of its workforce, in a last-ditch attempt to conserve cash while it explored strategic options. The company was at risk of defaulting on a credit facility with Desjardins that required maintaining at least $1.8 million CAD in cash from April onward; by May 8, reserves had fallen to $4.1 million from $9.2 million at the end of March. Management said the cuts would give it time to pursue a possible sale, asset disposals, strategic investment, or creditor protection. The window proved short. After talks with a significant potential commercial partner collapsed in June, LeddarTech filed for bankruptcy on June 17, 2025. No severance terms were disclosed.
Reason: cash crisis and impending debt default
