Synopsys announced in November 2025 that it would cut roughly 2,000 jobs, about 10% of its global workforce, in the first major restructuring following its $35 billion acquisition of engineering simulation firm Ansys, which closed in July 2025. The company said the plan was designed to "invest in key growth opportunities and drive business efficiencies" as it integrates the two businesses. Synopsys did not specify which teams or geographies would be affected, saying only that it intended to capitalize on the highest-growth areas. The combined workforce stood at roughly 26,500 employees after the deal. Most of the cuts were expected to fall in fiscal 2026, with the plan substantially complete by the end of fiscal 2027. Pre-tax restructuring charges were estimated at $300 million to $350 million, covering severance, termination benefits, and certain site closures.
