Layoff history
Amazon cut roughly 100 jobs across its Wondery and Audible units in August 2025, consolidating production as the podcast industry shifted toward video-forward, creator-led content. The reorganization also ended CEO Jen Sargent's four-year run leading Wondery. Under the new structure, Wondery will concentrate on celebrity and personality-driven podcasts, including deals with LeBron James and the Kelce brothers, while narrative shows like 'Dr. Death' and 'Dirty John' move to Audible. Steve Boom, Amazon's VP of audio, Twitch, and games, announced the changes via internal memo. Amazon acquired Wondery in 2020.
